I tutor GMAT, GRE and SAT math sections.
During the first One on One session, you and I identify the areas that need to be improved immediately. We formulate the lesson plans. Then, we decide the time that needs to be spent on each specific area.
Based on your goal, that is, to attend an undergraduate or a graduate program of your choice, we arrive at the number of tutoring sessions per week and timings as per your convenience.
We select the subject first. I go over with you the basic concepts of that topic which could be ratio and proportion or word problems or some other area. I cover all the different model problems with all possible twists and tricks. In one shot, you will see the various types of problems from simple to complex ones and as to how to tackle them efficiently and effortlessly.
I help you come out of old habits of doing math in a traditional manner. I help you see the problems in a much lighter and easier sense. I help you look at the problem mentally and break it down to small bits of problems; all this is to conserve time. I help you develop skills to compute complex math problems without using a calculator.
Literally, I will be with you every second as you solve problems and observe your potential and habitual mistakes and guide you as to how to overcome them. I oversee every step you take in tackling a problem and help you develop alternate skills to save time. Further, I help you develop your own unique ways of remembering techniques.
As you progress in solving basic and intermediate level problems, we constantly increase the level of complexity and start doing advanced problems. Once you begin to successfully solve complex problems, we focus on doing large number of problems without using pencil and paper. At this point, you will be doing and solving the whole problem mentally, saving a lot of labor and time.
As last part of tutoring, I suggest ways to relax and be confident to tackle problems without anxiety. Also, I give you a number of time saving tricks. Further, I help you as to how to unlearn past habits and overcome mental blocks. Lastly, I make sure you enjoy your learning process. (I am positive that you will develop problem solving skills not only in math but also in real world situations and you begin to enjoy facing problems with joy and cheer/peace and pleasure.)
